An Evening With Phoebe Noble in aid of The Doxa Project

First of all, Thank You so much to Martyn, Ben and The Doxa Project for asking me to do this concert it was such a great experience. I can’t believe how we managed to effectively sell out and the reception we had blew me away. We managed to raise Β£550 for The Doxa Project and change so many lives in Africa. If you would like to help The Doxa Project further head over to their website to find out more:

This also would not have been possible with out the incredible Josh Jenkins who accompanied me on guitar and sang with me. The same for Max Cunnell who sang with me and then went and tended the bar despite not being paid. A true British hero.

Thank you so much to everyone who came to watch. A lot of people said that they had never really heard me sing just as me… and that’s true. I love theatre and musical theatre and I used to shy away from singing as me because I preferred being in the character. It was such a strange feeling singing on my own for an hour and a half (crikey!) but was so fun and I will hopefully do more.

One thing I really loved about doing a solo show was being able to choose and what key I sang it inπŸ˜‚ I got to compile a set list full of acoustic songs, country songs, obscure musical theatre and even just some of my favourites.

My final set list was as follows:

Where You Lead – Carol King: I chose this song because I love Carol King and also because it’s the theme tune to one of my favourite shows, Gilmore Girls πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Burning House – CAM: After CAM released Diane, the response to Jolene, earlier this year I became obsessed with her album and knew that I had to perform something of hers.

What Do You Do With Your Arms: My first obscure Musical Theatre comedy song involving lots of waving my arms around in a strange fashion.

Fine – Ordinary Days: From the Song Cycle Ordinary Days i chose the funny argument between a couple to sing with my boyfriend Max.

Believing – Nashville: Nashville is one of my favourite tv shows and I love all of the music that comes out of that show. This is one of my favourites.

Happy Together – The Turtles: I’ve always known this song but what really made me fall in love with it was Miley Cyrus’s cover during her Backyard Sessions.

Last Request – Paulo Nutini: An obvious choice. One of the best songs out there.

Times are Hard for Dreamers – AmeliΓ©: From the broadway musical I chose this hopeful and inspiring song.

All of Me – John Legend: During Rehearsal JJ started joining in with a sick harmony and that is the version we performed!

Crazy -Gnarls Barkley: JJ and I sang this number which we adapted from a piano cover of this song and jazzed back up if that makes any kind of sense. I have attached this above!!

I Once Knew – Edges: A number from a song cycle I did last year for my A Level. I love this song cycle and this was a special request from Martyn from Doxa πŸ’–πŸ’–

Life That’s Good – Nashville: One of the most beloved Nashville songs out there that I will always love.

I Hope You Can See This – Meet John Doe The Musical: I decided to end with this number because this is the song I chose for my drama school auditions. It’s a beautiful song but I can see why I lost perspective and it wasn’t the right choice. However, I wanted to end with it as I love the song, I probably won’t sing it again for a while and after a rough year I wanted to put that chapter to rest in the right way.

I think the Hunter Club was a great venue and the perfect size really for just me. I definitely am trying to sort out another one so hopefully everyone can spread the word and we can make the next as successful as the last.
